The Bry-Air MiniPAC MP-100 is a 100 CFM desiccant dehumidifier designed for environments where refrigerant-based LGR units cannot operate effectively: cold storage ante-rooms, pharmaceutical production areas, laboratories requiring relative humidity below 30% RH, server rooms with low temperature setpoints, and any application where continuous moisture removal without defrost interruption is required. At 3.3 lbs/hr moisture removal and 139 lbs, the MP-100 is sized for spaces where a large industrial desiccant unit would be over-specified, while delivering desiccant technology's core advantage — consistent performance across a temperature range that extends well below freezing.
The MP-100 uses a rotating desiccant wheel rather than a compressor and refrigerant circuit. Process air (100 CFM) passes through the desiccant rotor where moisture is adsorbed into the hygroscopic desiccant matrix. The rotor continuously rotates into the reactivation sector where heated reactivation air (34 CFM) drives absorbed moisture out and exhausts it away from the process airstream. Because there is no compressor or evaporator coil, the unit has no icing threshold and no defrost cycle — it removes moisture continuously at temperatures where LGR units would shut down.
Pharmaceutical manufacturers use the MP-100 in tablet coating rooms and packaging areas where moisture above 30% RH causes product clumping, coating defects, and shelf-life degradation. Analytical chemistry and materials testing laboratories deploy it to maintain controlled-humidity environments for hygroscopic samples and precision instrumentation that require stable, low-humidity conditions year-round. Cold storage operators use it in staging areas and ante-chambers adjacent to freezer vaults, where the low ambient temperature disables refrigerant dehumidifiers entirely. Electronics manufacturers and military depot maintenance facilities specify desiccant units in component storage areas to prevent corrosion on circuit boards, connectors, and precision assemblies. Seed banks, agricultural storage facilities, and archival document storage rooms use it for continuous moisture control in spaces where refrigerant equipment cannot sustain the required humidity floor.
Refrigerant dehumidifiers — including LGR units used in restoration — remove moisture by cooling process air below its dew point onto evaporator coils. As ambient temperature drops, the coils must cool to increasingly lower temperatures, and below approximately 45–50°F the coils ice over, blocking airflow and triggering defrost cycles that interrupt dehumidification. Below 35°F, most refrigerant units cease effective operation. The MP-100's desiccant rotor adsorbs moisture through a chemical process with no such temperature limitation — it operates from sub-freezing temperatures through 140°F and can achieve grain depressions well below what LGR equipment can sustain. The MP-100 requires 208–240V single-phase 60Hz power and the reactivation exhaust must be ducted to the building exterior; returning warm, moist reactivation air to the conditioned space negates the dehumidification effect.
