This kit pairs one 10-frame deep box for brood with one medium box for honey — a lighter starting setup than a double-deep, with room to add a second deep or another super as the colony grows.

Room to Grow

A single deep gives your colony less brood space than a double-deep setup, so plan to add a second deep box (or another medium) as the colony builds up through spring. This kit is a lower-cost way to get started, not a finished hive for the long term.
