Mango 'Angie' (Mangifera indica)

The Angie Mango is another amazing cultivar from south Florida, named in honor of Angie Whitman, the wife of legendary rare fruit explorer and fruit tree collector, Bill Whitman. The Angie Mango is a really great dwarf to semi-dwarf variety, reaching heights of 10-15 feet tall with a canopy spread of up to 15 feet.  The yellow-orange fruit weighs about a pound.  It has a round to oblong shape with smooth, fiber-less, juicy flesh that is bright orange in color and has a rich sweet creamy flavor.

Mango species are popular trees in the subtropical Southern home landscape. The glossy evergreen foliage of mango trees makes for a beautiful, shady canopy that requires little upkeep. Pick, peel, and eat Haden mangoes freshly off the tree! How can you tell when a mango fruit is ready to harvest? Your nose will know! You should be able to smell a sweet, piney aroma from mango fruit before plucking it off the tree.
