The ORB1420's orbital motion oscillates the rectangular pad in an elliptical pattern rather than rotating it. This mechanical action generates enough heat and friction at 3500 RPM to break the bond between floor finish and substrate without chemical stripper — eliminating the neutralization rinse, chemical disposal, and extended dry time that conventional wet stripping requires. The 14" × 20" rectangular pad reaches along walls and into corners that a round pad misses at approximately 1" from the edge, reducing the amount of hand-edging required after machine stripping. Optional weight kits add downforce for harder or thicker finish buildups.
