Tenodera ardefolia sinensis, Praying Mantis, preys on most insects, mites and insect eggs. Use 10-100 egg cases per year per acre in early Spring. Hang an egg case in bushes or attach to anything 2' or more above the ground. Egg cases may be stored in the refrigerator just above freezing with slight dampness. Generally available from February-May.

Note: If you would like to see the mantid babies, place the egg case in a paper bag, fold the top and seal shut with a paper clip. Place the bag on a window sill in direct sunlight. Periodically open the bag carefully, and when you see tiny mantids inside the bag, take them outside and sprinkle them throughout the garden. Please be patient, sometimes it can take up to 8 weeks of warm weather for them to hatch.
