Bowl Seal - For the Stephan/Hobart VCM 25, 40, 44 - 0180
This is a brand-new replacement bowl seal for Stephan / Hobart VCM 25, 40, and 44 mixers. It’s designed to keep water inside the bowl where it belongs—preventing leaks, protecting the motor area, and helping your mixer run cooler and smoother during heavy production.
Our JPM bowl seal uses a proprietary, molded pre-seal and a heavy-duty, food-grade body paired with a high-quality o-ring. Together, they form a tight, reliable seal around the shaft sleeve, even under high heat and friction.
Key Benefits
-
Guaranteed fit on VCM 25, VCM 40, and VCM 44 models
-
Long-life design engineered for high friction and heat
-
Improved sealing surface for reduced leaks and better product containment
-
Runs cooler when properly lubricated, reducing wear on both seal and shaft
-
Includes o-ring so no need to source extra components

Backed by JPM: We stand behind our bowl seal performance in real bakery and pizza shop environments
How This Fixes “Bowl Leaking” Issues
If your VCM is leaking from the bottom of the bowl, this seal is often the first part to inspect and replace. The bowl seal is one of two components working together to create the seal:
-
The bowl seal
-
The shaft sleeve (the surface the seal rides on)
When the bowl seal wears out or runs too long without lubrication, it can harden, glaze, or lose its sealing edge, leading to product seepage and shorter service life.
Replacing the bowl seal and re-establishing proper lubrication usually resolves:
-
Drips or product leaking from the underside of the bowl
-
Excess heat at the seal area
-
Premature wear caused by dry running
If the mixer still leaks after replacing the seal, the shaft sleeve is often the next part to replace due to grooving or pitting.
Construction & Materials
-
Body: High-strength food-grade plastic, built to handle continuous commercial use
-
Seal stack: JPM’s proprietary pre-seal design for better sealing and stability
-
O-ring: Included with every seal
-
Heat & friction tolerant: Engineered specifically for the high-friction environment at the bottom of a VCM bowl
Installation & Maintenance Tips
To get the longest life from your new bowl seal:
-
Always lubricate on installation
-
Apply a generous amount of food-grade, non-hardening lubricant to:
-
The shaft sleeve
-
The inside bore of the bowl seal
-
The o-ring
-
-
This reduces friction, heat, and wear dramatically.
-
-
Re-lubricate regularly
-
We recommend removing the seal and re-lubricating about twice per month in busy locations.
-
-
Inspect the shaft sleeve
-
If you see grooves, scoring, or pitting on the shaft sleeve, replace it at the same time.
-
A damaged sleeve can prevent the new seal from seating correctly and dramatically shorten its life.
-
-
Monitor for early warning signs
-
Dampness or residue around the bottom of the bowl
-
New noises or heat near the seal area
-
Increased frequency of leaks over time
-
