Many beekeepers prefer this method because the wider spacing encourages bees to draw deeper, more even comb, making uncapping smoother and faster during honey harvest. This technique can also lead to higher overall honey yields, since the bees draw each comb out further compared to running all eight frames.

This tool can also be used in the brood box for beekeepers who choose to run seven frames there as well. Because this spacing method works best after the comb has already been drawn, it is not recommended for new, undrawn foundation, as bees may build unevenly.
