Bruichladdich has launched Port Charlotte SC:01 2012, the latest release in their Cask Exploration series and successor to last year’s Port Charlotte PAC:01 2011.
Distilled in 2012 from a 2011 crop of 100% Islay grown Concerto, Publican, and Oxbridge barley varieties and peated to 40 PPM (parts per million), Port Charlotte SC: 01 2012 was created from three parcels of heavily peated spirit aged for nine years. The first parcel contained spirit matured in Sherry butts recasked into first fill Sauternes casks. The second parcel contained spirit matured in second fill American whiskey barrels recasked into second fill Sauternes casks. The third parcel contained spirit matured in a combination of first and second fill American whiskey barrels recasked into first fill Sauternes casks.
