This 100% pure beeswax foundation includes vertical support wires for added stability. The hooked top wire extends past the wax sheet so it can be secured under the wedge of your frame, helping keep the foundation straight and properly supported.

Detailed Description

Deep beeswax foundation with hooks is a traditional and bee-preferred choice for the brood nest. The vertical embedded wires strengthen the wax sheet, and the hooked top edge sits beneath the wedge bar of a standard deep frame to hold the foundation in place.

For best results, especially in deep frames, we recommend cross-wiring your wooden frames. This provides additional support as bees draw out the comb and prevents sagging in warm weather. While cross-wiring is less critical for medium frames, it is strongly recommended for deep frames like this one.

Bees readily accept 100% beeswax foundation, but it does require more time, tools, and skill to install compared to plastic alternatives. If you want an easier installation experience while still giving bees a wax-rich surface, consider our double-waxed plastic foundation—a great balance between what bees prefer and what beekeepers enjoy working with.
