The telescoping cover sits on top of the hive year-round and takes the brunt of the weather — sun, rain, and everything in between. This 10-frame cypress cover overhangs the sides slightly (that's the "telescoping" part) and wears a metal cap on top, so water sheds off instead of soaking into the wood.

What You Get

  • Metal-capped top — blocks sun and rain from ever reaching the wood underneath, the main reason covers rot
  • Overhanging sides shed water away from the hive body instead of letting it run down the walls
  • 7/8" cypress construction, naturally rot-resistant even where the metal doesn't reach
  • Fits standard 10-frame Langstroth equipment
  • Choose unpainted or primed and painted

Telescoping vs. Migratory Covers

We carry both styles. Telescoping covers give better weather protection since they overhang the box — go with this one for stationary hives. If you move hives between yards, a migratory cover stacks flush and tighter for transport, at the cost of some weather protection.
