10-Frame Cypress Solid Bottom Board

The 10-Frame Cypress Solid Bottom Board serves as the foundation of the hive, supporting all the weight of the boxes and frames above it. Built from rot-resistant cypress wood, this bottom board is made to last through seasons of use and weather exposure. Its solid floor design helps beekeepers maintain stable airflow inside the hive while keeping drafts out, giving bees a protected and comfortable home.

Key Features and Benefits

  • Solid construction: Serves as the structural base for the hive.
  • Draft protection: Solid wood floor keeps air leaks out of the hive.
  • Cypress wood: Naturally rot-resistant and durable against moisture.
  • Assembled option: Built with Titebond glue, staples, and nails for long-term use.
  • Custom finish: Available primed and painted upon request.
  • Fits 10-frame hives: Designed to match standard 10-frame Langstroth equipment.

Detailed Description

This solid bottom board differs from the screened bottom board version by using a full wood floor instead of mesh. The solid surface eliminates drafts and helps maintain better control of airflow inside the hive. Both solid and screened styles have served beekeepers for decades, but many prefer the solid type for its simplicity and reliability.

Positioned closest to the ground, the bottom board takes the most wear from moisture and weather. That’s why these are built from rot-resistant cypress wood, which stands up exceptionally well over time. You can also order your bottom board assembled—each one put together with Titebond Glue, staples, and nails so it’s ready to go out of the box.

For a longer-lasting finish, you can choose to have the bottom board primed and painted. Pair this with other 10-frame hive parts from our collection to build a complete, durable hive setup.

You can purchase our other 10 Frame Hive parts to customize your hives.
