The telescoping cover sits on top of the hive year-round and takes the brunt of the weather. This 8-frame cypress cover overhangs the sides slightly and wears a metal cap on top, so rain sheds off instead of soaking into the wood underneath.

What You Get

  • Metal-capped top — blocks sun and rain from reaching the wood, the main reason covers rot
  • Overhanging sides shed water away from the hive body
  • 7/8" cypress construction, naturally rot-resistant even where the metal doesn't reach

Telescoping covers give better weather protection since they overhang the box — go with this one for stationary hives. If you move hives between yards, our migratory cover stacks flush and tighter for transport, at the cost of some weather protection.
