Chile Pequin Wreaths
Our Chile Pequin Wreaths are great for adding that special New Mexican vibe to your door or anywhere inside your home. Our wreaths are hand-made year-round out of sun-dried chile pequin (also known as chile de arbol). Pequin Wreaths make a beautiful addition to your front door or entryway. We offer our Pequin Wreaths both treated (inedible but preserves color and shine) and untreated (edible but be careful, they are HOT).

- All our wreaths are hand-made in the lovely town of Hatch, New Mexico
- By default, we do not treat our wreaths, but you can have us treat yours (to preserve its color) for a $5 charge
- Just like a ristra, this wreath is topped with corn husks and has a string loop with which to hang it
- Ristras, Wreaths, and Crosses ship Tuesday-Friday.
Edible vs. treated, and how to care for your wreath
Our default wreaths are not treated, which means the chile pequin pods are edible — you can snip a few off the back of the wreath any time you need a little heat for breakfast eggs, pizza, or a slow roast. Pequin is its own species and runs far hotter than our boxed Hatch chile (roughly 30,000–60,000 SHU, well past anything in our heat-level guide). A small pod goes a long way.
Choosing the treated option ($5 upcharge) gives you a sealed wreath that holds its deep red color and shine longer. Treated wreaths are not edible and are meant purely as decor.
Hang your wreath indoors or under a covered porch, out of direct sun and rain. Indoor wreaths typically stay vibrant and aromatic for about a year — long enough to carry you to the next harvest. The corn-husk top and string loop are built for hanging right out of the box; no extra hardware needed.

Frequently asked questions
Are the wreaths edible?
Yes — our default (Not Treated) wreaths are made from sun-dried chile pequin and you can snip pods off the back to cook with. The Treated option is sealed to preserve color and shine and is not edible. Pick one or the other based on how you'll use it. Note: pequin runs far hotter than our boxed Hatch chile — closer to a chile de árbol or hotter — so a single pod is plenty.
How long will the wreath last?
Hung indoors out of direct sun and humidity, an untreated wreath holds its color and aroma for about a year — most folks replace it when the next harvest comes in. A treated wreath keeps its color longer because it's sealed, but isn't edible.
