Comb honey sells at a premium because it can't be faked — it's honey exactly as the bees sealed it, in edible beeswax comb, no extraction involved. These cassettes let you produce and package it yourself in ready-to-sell boxes, without buying a separate comb honey system.

Key Features

  • No Nails, Glue, or Screws: Finger-jointed pine pieces fit together securely on their own.
  • Natural Presentation: Honey is sold directly in the comb, exactly as bees made it.
  • Foundation Slots Built In: Two slots let you add thin wax foundation strips as a starter guide for straighter comb.
  • Sized for Standard Frames: Cut to fit standard Langstroth frames — medium frames hold 4 cassettes, deep frames hold 8.
  • Sell the Whole Package: The wooden cassette itself can be sold or gifted along with the finished comb honey — no repackaging needed.

How It Works

Assemble the finger-jointed pine pieces into a rectangle — no tools needed — and place it inside a standard Langstroth wooden frame. Slide a thin sheet of beeswax foundation into one or both slots as a starter guide, then let bees draw and fill the comb during a nectar flow.

Once filled, pop the cassettes out of the frame, bag them, and freeze before consumption to protect against pests. After freezing, they're ready to package for sale or gifting.

Sizing — Medium and Deep Are Not Interchangeable

  • Medium cassette: 5-1/16" x 4-3/16" x 1-1/2" — 4 per medium frame
  • Deep cassette: 3-7/8" x 4-3/16" x 1-1/2" — 8 per deep frame

A Simpler Alternative to Ross Rounds

These wooden cassettes — sometimes called basswood sections — offer a simpler, lower-cost way to produce comb honey compared to systems like Ross Rounds or Half Hogg Cassettes, without sacrificing the same natural presentation.
