Each frame comes with 4 separate pieces — a top bar, a bottom bar, and 2 sidebars — that fit together with glue, nails, or staples to form the frame. Each frame fits a sheet of foundation for your bees to build comb on, and is designed to fit inside a deep box so it can be easily removed and inspected.
Deep frames are most commonly used inside deep/brood boxes, where the queen lays eggs and the colony lives over winter. The large surface area gives the queen more space to lay eggs without moving from frame to frame.
These frames are sold unassembled or assembled. If bought unassembled, you can put them together with typical hand tools — a hammer, nails, and good-quality wood glue. Good construction matters here, so the frames don't fall apart in the hive.
These frames have a groove in the underside of the top bar and the upper side of the bottom bar. The two grooves give you a place to snap in the foundation.
Bulk orders over 1,000 ship via freight on a pallet.
