Uncapping over a 5-gallon bucket usually means wax everywhere and honey dripping past the edges. This tank fixes that: 10 frame slots hold your comb securely while you uncap, a perforated screen separates cappings from honey as it drips, and a built-in honey gate lets you drain straight into jars when you're done — no separate bottling bucket needed.

What's Included

  • Solid Bottom Tote with Honey Valve: Includes a honey gate for controlled draining — doubles as a bottling bucket on its own.
  • Open Bottom Tote: Heavy-duty, quarter-inch-thick food-grade polyethylene, built specifically as an uncapping tub.
  • Perforated Screen: Separates capping wax from honey as it drains, keeping your harvest clean.
  • Solid Lid: Keeps contents secure and contains the honey smell so bees don't come looking.
  • Frame Rest with Stainless Screw: Lets you pivot frames in place while uncapping — no setting frames down mid-process.
  • Wooden Crossbar: Holds the frame steady during uncapping.

How to Use It for Honey Harvest

  1. Setup: Place the solid bottom tote on a stable surface and attach the honey valve. Set the open bottom tote on top with the perforated screen inside. Position a frame in the slot and close the honey valve.
  2. Uncap and Drain: Uncap each frame and set it in the tank. Honey drains through the screen into the bottom tote while you prep the next frame — no separate catch basin needed.
  3. Bottle Directly: Drain honey straight into jars through the honey valve. Set the wax cappings aside for beeswax rendering.
  4. Clean Up: Wash with hot water and soap after each use.

Beyond Uncapping

Swap in the optional ventilated lid and this tote works for collecting swarms too — though it's not built to be used as a dedicated swarm trap. With the solid lid on, it also doubles as safe holding storage for frames during an inspection, or for staging frames of honey before they go into the extractor.
