Our Medium 6 1/4-Inch Langstroth Frames are built for durability, precision, and bee-friendliness. Each frame maintains the ideal bee space between combs — giving your bees the room they prefer while keeping management easy for you. These frames fit standard medium boxes for smooth removal and inspection with minimal comb damage.

Key Features and Benefits

  • Standard medium depth: 6 1/4-inch frame size for honey supers and medium hive bodies.
  • 5-piece construction: Top bar, bottom bar, two sidebars, and a sheet of medium foundation.
  • Double beeswax coating: Encourages faster, more even comb building.
  • Grooved top and bottom bars: Snap-in design lets you install foundation without tools.
  • Available assembled or unassembled: Simple to build with basic hand tools.
  • Bulk shipping: Orders of 1,260 or more assembled frames ship via freight pallet.

Detailed Description

Each frame includes five parts — a top bar, bottom bar, two sidebars, and a medium foundation sheet — that fit securely together with wood glue, nails, or staples. The foundation snaps into the grooves on the top and bottom bars without extra tools, making assembly fast.

Medium frames are most commonly used in honey supers, where bees store surplus honey you can harvest. Some beekeepers also use medium-depth boxes for the entire hive to standardize equipment.

In 2015, we switched from thinly coated foundation to a double-coated American beeswax foundation after testing how bees responded. The heavier wax coating improves comb acceptance and building speed — a difference we and our customers noticed directly.

These frames are sold unassembled or assembled. Assembled options are built with strong adhesives and nails for longevity and stability. Bulk orders of 1,260 or more assembled frames ship via freight on a pallet.
