Our Medium 6 1/4 Inch Langstroth Frames are built with precision to meet the needs of both your bees and you. Each frame maintains the natural bee space inside the hive — the exact gap bees prefer between combs — for smooth hive operation and easy inspection.

Key Features and Benefits

  • Standard medium depth: 6 1/4-inch frame size for honey supers or medium brood boxes.
  • Complete 4-piece frame design: Wedged top bar, split bottom bar, and two sidebars with pre-drilled holes.
  • Durable construction: Easily assembled using wood glue, nails, or staples.
  • Foundation compatible: Fits 100% beeswax medium foundation with wires.
  • Extra support: Sidebar holes allow horizontal wiring to prevent sagging comb.
  • Bee-preferred spacing: Designed to maintain proper bee space inside the hive.

Detailed Description

Each frame is built for use in medium or honey boxes, where bees store surplus honey for harvest or winter reserves. It includes four components — a wedged top bar, split bottom bar, and two sidebars with holes — that fit together securely with wood glue, nails, or staples.

The wedged top bar has a removable wedge strip that securely holds wired beeswax foundation in place. The split bottom bar lets the foundation rest neatly in the groove, preventing bowing or distortion during use.

The sidebars include pre-drilled holes for additional horizontal support wires, which reinforce the comb and help prevent sagging or collapse when frames are filled with honey.

Medium frames are most often used in honey supers, but can also serve as brood boxes in medium-depth hive setups. These frames are sold unassembled and go together easily with standard tools like a hammer and good-quality wood glue.

Each frame fits standard Langstroth medium boxes and is compatible with 100% beeswax medium foundation with wires.

Cold Weather Shipping Disclaimer

Beeswax foundation becomes brittle when shipped at temperatures below 38°F (3°C). Orders containing foundation will be held until the temperature rises above 38°F. If you request shipment during colder conditions, it's at your own risk — we're not responsible for damage or returns due to frozen or crumbled foundation.

Fits a 100% beeswax medium foundation with wires. See our entire collection of bee hive frame assembly tools and our other Wax Foundation, Frames and Assembly Tools.
