The additional pad pressure (16 lbs vs. 15 lbs on the NM1600) combined with the higher RPM creates a more aggressive finishing action that brings floors from a 10–20 gloss unit reading to a wet-look 80+ in a single pass on well-prepared floors. The belt drive transmission absorbs torque spikes that a direct-drive system at this RPM would transmit as vibration to the handle, maintaining operator comfort on extended runs. The NM1600 at 1600 RPM is for routine maintenance on well-maintained finishes — lower heat, longer coating life between strip-and-recoat cycles. The NM2000 is for restoration burnishing on dull floors where maximum gloss yield per pass matters more than finish longevity. The NM2000DC adds a dust control skirt that captures pad-generated particles, making it the right choice for occupied buildings and indoor air quality programs.
