Sandia HEPA Raven 70-4003 Backpack Vacuum – 6 Qt, 150 CFM, HEPA Bag+Filter
Sandia HEPA Raven 70-4003 6-Quart Backpack Vacuum – Dual HEPA Filtration
The HEPA Raven adds two-stage HEPA filtration to the Raven backpack platform: a HEPA-rated bag captures particulates inside the collection chamber, and a HEPA motor filter catches anything that bypasses the bag before it reaches the exhaust. At 9.5 pounds with 150 CFM airflow, 95 inches of water lift, and a 67 dB noise level, it provides HEPA-certified exhaust in a lighter package than the 10-quart Super Raven. An interchangeable lid converts to blower mode for post-cleaning air circulation.

Two-Barrier HEPA vs Single-Bag HEPA Filtration
Single-barrier HEPA systems rely on the HEPA bag alone. If the bag develops a pinhole, a poor seal at the collar, or fine particulates bypass the bag media at high airflow, those particles reach the motor and exhaust directly. The HEPA Raven's two-barrier system adds a HEPA motor filter as the second stage — particles that bypass the HEPA bag are captured before the motor exhaust path. For mold remediation, lead dust removal under EPA RRP protocols, and healthcare environments with strict HEPA compliance requirements, the two-barrier design provides additional assurance that exhaust air meets the 99.97% / 0.3-micron HEPA standard even under bag wear conditions.
HEPA Raven vs Super Raven — HEPA vs Capacity Tradeoff
The HEPA Raven (70-4003) and Super Raven (30-2003) use the same motor, deliver the same 150 CFM, and weigh approximately the same. The Super Raven holds 10 quarts with standard micro-filtration — longer runs between bag changes, no HEPA certification. The HEPA Raven holds 6 quarts with dual HEPA filtration — more frequent bag changes, HEPA-certified exhaust air. For facilities without regulated HEPA requirements, the Super Raven's larger bag capacity reduces shift interruptions. For healthcare, mold remediation, and regulated particulate applications where HEPA certification is required, the HEPA Raven is the correct specification. Both carry the same 5-year motor warranty.
