98.6% average effectiveness against varroa mites — that's the number from independent US and international trial data, and it's why VarroxSan has become one of our best-selling mite treatments. It's a natural oxalic acid strip that keeps working for 42–56 days after you place it, without you touching the hive again until it's time to pull the strips.
VarroxSan works whether your mite levels are already low (spring/fall maintenance) or spiking (summer knockdown) — the slow-release strip adjusts to how bees interact with it rather than requiring you to guess the right moment.
Update: We are now able to ship this product to California.
Use up to 4 strips per brood chamber, placed between brood frames so bees walk on them directly. Leave in place 42–56 days, then remove — don't exceed 56 days. If bees aren't in contact with the strips after 42 days, reposition closer to the cluster.
For double brood boxes: 4 strips in the lower chamber, up to 2 more in the upper chamber if it's full of bees. For medium-frame brood chambers, use half the dose — two medium boxes stacked count as one deep box.
VarroxSan is made from oxalic acid dihydrate (18.42%) in slow-release fiberboard strips. It works best in summer and fall, though it can be used year-round under the right conditions. The slow-release format reduces the need for repeated treatments — well suited for low honey flow periods when you don't want to keep opening the hive.
