Choquette Avocados are a self-pollinating Persea americana variety bred by Remi D. Choquette Sr. in Miami, Florida. A member of the Lauraceae family along with all other Avocado varieties, this tropical/subtropical evergreen fruit tree is a late-season variety, bearing hearty harvests in late-fall through winter, weighing in at around 3 lbs. per fruit.

Growing up to 30 ft. tall, the Choquette Avocado tree takes up less space than some of the larger Avocado varieties, making them great additions for a food forest wanting to save a bit of space! On top of that, they have relative cold tolerance, withstanding cold spells of 25 degrees fahrenheit. Lovely to watch blossom, the trees fill with small yellow-green blossoms and dense foliage.

Lovingly nicknamed the Alligator Pear or Florida Avocado due to its origin, Choquette Avocados grow deep-green, glossy and easy to peel fruits. Under their leathery skin, they reveal rich, creamy mesocarp (flesh) with a hint of pineapple perfume, perfect for smoothies, guacamole, face masks or just topping on toast!
