NOODLESUDONJAPANESE
Udon Noodles are thick, chewy Japanese wheat noodles made simply from flour, salt, and water, sold here in a 3 lb pack for restaurant kitchens, noodle bars and home cooks. Serve them hot in dashi-based broths like kake and kitsune udon, toss into yaki udon stir-fries, or chill for zaru udon with dipping sauce — a satisfying, versatile noodle for soups and stews.

How chefs use udon
A 3 lb pack is sized for restaurant prep and family cooking rather than a single dinner. Cook the noodles in plenty of unsalted boiling water, rinse under cold water to stop the cooking and wash off surface starch, then reheat portions to order in hot dashi for kake, kitsune or tempura udon. For yaki udon, toss the cooked noodles in a hot pan with cabbage, onion, protein and a soy-mirin sauce; for nabeyaki, finish them in an individual clay pot with egg and vegetables. Chilled, they take a tsuyu dipping sauce for zaru udon or a sesame dressing for a summer noodle salad.
Pairs well with
Keep Hondashi instant dashi on the station for the broth, Kewpie mayonnaise for yaki udon and okonomiyaki plates, and sambal oelek for a spicy finish. See the full Japanese Ingredients and Pastas collections, or browse everything in stock in Warehouse Items.
